Anybody know what a goiter is?
Because I think I might have one. That gland right under my chin? It's been growing bigger all day. And sore, very sore. Isn't that what a goiter is? An unseemly, swelling growth under your chin?
Of course it's Friday night, so I'm self-medicating: peppermint tea with rum, Dilettante chocolates, and pomegranite seeds. I'm sure that's good for goiter.
Or, maybe I could call my doctor friend.

A Goiter is a condition in which the thyroid gland becomes enlarged. The gland is located toward the front of the neck between the Adam's apple and the top of the breastbone. In most cases, a goiter appears as a smooth swelling at the front of the neck. Goiters develop because the thyroid gland is not active enough or because it is too active.

Another type of thyroid growth, called a sporadic goiter, can form if your diet includes too many goiter-promoting foods, such as soybeans, rutabagas, cabbage, peaches, peanuts and spinach. These foods can suppress the manufacture of thyroid hormone by interfering with your thyroid's ability to process iodide.
Have you been overdosing on the rutabagas?
Don't you get a goiter if you don't have enough iodine in your diet?
